Not amiga related, but I know all you helpful people will help me out.

I have a machine running win2kpro. This is connected to a WIN98 box through a network.

The WIN98 box has a NTFS drive installed with winxppro on it as a slave.  I need to acces the drive through the win2kpro machine.  But the win98 box will not see the drive.  Are there any progs I can run under win98 so i can connect to the drive as a network drive.

Cheers in advance peeps

I'm that rarest of folks, someone who doesn't hate Windows.  So I'll help you out.

It is a tool which allows you to do exactly what you want to do - read NTFS with Win'98 (unsure if it'd work under ME or any flavor of '95).

HTH.  HAND.

Not quite rare i.e. I'm currently using Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition....

Once I get financially solvent again I may have to buy a copy of that...how is it in comparison to 2000 Adv. Server?

Is A.D. management still more or less the same?

Without going into detail... It’s fundamentally the Windows XP (a.k.a NT 5.1) within the Server segment.

Ah, I'd expected as much.

Microsoft thinks that IT Technicians are bunch idiots i.e. wizard features seems to be over kill in my POV. For positive aspect, it’s a relatively easier to use than the old 2000 Adv. Server.

It can't be harder...!  Although to be fair configuring the 2000 server here was easier than the old NT4 server.  Bleaugh!  I like the "configure your server" option when you first power the thing on.

There are some 'issues' with existing software (due to NT 5.2 related features) e.g. MS SQL. It’s Internet Explorer 6.0 setup has all of it’s scripting turned off (for security).

Interesting.

This particular edition is friendly for the ancient Celeron A @300** (with 128MB RAM).

Also interesting.  I've got a few AMD boxen around here that would probably do - hell, it would probably do fine on my P200 box, but I'm not going to tinker with Shoverrobot (the server) now that I've got it tweaked just the way I want! :-)

I notice that some people (in some Windows forums) runs their Win2K3 on Pentium II @233Mhz  (i.e. it’s competition who can get it on the lowest hardware while still usable).

Well I think for the majority of us who do professional stuff at home it boils down to using "that one old box" we had lying around for ages - the P2/233 or whatever - doing nothing.  I can't bring myself to throw away a P120 with 24mb RAM (hey, it works and works well - why toss it just because it's old?!) so I certainly can understand others holding on to older boxes and those same systems ending up as servers.

Heck, anybody can install a server OS on a P4 3.06gb system with 4gb RAM and a massive .5 tbyte RAID.  It's getting it working down on the bottom end of the spectrum that's fun :)
