More newb questions.
« on: March 02, 2005, 02:51:22 AM »
Okay, I've got WinUAE installed, 3.1 set up on a "hard-drive" (folder, actually), got P96 installed...now for the next question:

I want to set up some backdrop images for folders and for my amiga desktop.  I also want to use extant .JPEGs from the PC side.  How do I do this without converting them to .ILBMs or .IFFs?

make sure you have the supporting classes and datatypes for the image formats you hope to use

then just plug them into the prefs/patterns settings

'k.

I've got a jpeg datatype...but still no dice.  Multiview just up and quits when I try to view .JPGs with it.

(Man, setting up an Amiga after 10+ years is humbling...easy to use my eye!)

Don't be so certain...give it massive amounts of time to render the image. My multiview seemed to "quit" also, but I sat it out for a loooooong time, then it finally produced the image. BTW I have discovered that my favorite image format of all time (raw tiff) loads and renders way way way faster than JPG on my emulation. And this is on a P3/933.

I've determined that multiview could benefit from a "busy" indicator

Thanks...I'll give it a spin again and see what happens.

Hmm, still no joy.  I'd like to get this feature working somehow or the other...that or find a tool to convert a few of my .jpg files to .iff or .ilbm so's I can use them as backdrops! :-)
