Digital cameras under AmigaOS/MOS & Linux?
« on: January 30, 2004, 02:28:16 AM »
I'm on a roll, so why not go with it? :-)

Looks like I will be in the market for a new digital camera. A model with USB that will work with both Amiga/MOS and Linux would be ideal.

Any suggestions? I need to make a purchase ASAP so prompt answered are much appreciated! Information on Linux support seems hard to come by. The best info I can find has me pointing towards getting a sony DSC-P32. My budget would prefer stay in the $200 range unless the quality jump would be that extreme..

I just noticed RH9 has a tool called gtkam which looks like it support a whole lot of cameras. Does it support them out of the box? That would sure be ideal:-) Gotta go check SuSe

-edit- hmm weird, gtkam's support device list are all models which are not currently for sale.

Ok! I found THIS so I figure I will get THIS CAMERA

Now the questions is can I convince MOS/AOS to use it? :-)

Actually 2.1 MP wont even for printing out decent quality photos..

But anyway.. Really depends on what you are going to use it for.. I guess 2.1 would be more than enough, if you where going to use it for internet for example..

2.1MP does 1600x1200, which is plenty enough for what I will be using it for. Anyting more is insane overkill since I usually crop pics to about 800x600 or so. Most use will be for web.
