FS: Brand New (NOS) QuickPak Amiga 4000 Towers
« on: September 22, 2008, 09:18:19 PM »
No, that was not a misprint but it is a tease at this point! I am working on a deal to source a large quantity of NOS (New Old Stock) QuickPak Amiga 4000T. The price won't be cheap for me, so the end user cost won't be cheap. The price will be much cheaper than the last couple clean used units recently sold on eBay.

Would you be interested in this, the ultimate Amiga of all times?

Oh, hell yeah. Everyone will want one, though, so I see a series of out-of-control auctions in our future.

No, I don't want to go that route. There should a substantial number of A4000Ts, I'll sell them at a modest (small) markup.

really? I am interested too! where is more info on those Quickpak towers? are they just towers or complete systems? for the original D A4000 or the T ?

I will post more info when I get more. I'm pretty sure these are going to be the newest T towers. Complete system? Monitor not likely, but otherwise should be full.

I should have much more info very soon and yes, this is no joke.

Any idea on price yet?  Are you talking many thousands here?

No hard price yet, but it will not be many thousands. It will more likely be in the ballpark of $1,000.

Would $1000USD-ballpark price be for an 060 based unit or for a regular A3640 based one?

We will know more soon...

Exactly, HammerD; I'm not sure what the big fuss is about. I bought TWO of them from from Software Hut last year, With 060 boards!

One of them is still in the crate because I want to take a photo series of unpacking a factory fresh A4000T  :-D

This is like running into a Coke factory and proclaiming Pepsi is better. Anyone who thinks they can source an A4000T at Software hut, be my guest.

FWIW I doubt they can be sourced at Software Hut any longer, but I certainly do not speak for them.

Are we talking hundreds or thousands A4000T:s?

I am maybe interested, but that depends on the price :-)

I am trying to remember why I can not afford 4.1/SAM last week ;-)

No, we are talking in the dozens. From the interest shown here, it may be "just enough".

Any more word on this Red? You stired the pot... Now the natives are hungry for more... I just hope this deal goes through for you...

Nope, if I would have known it would take this long I would have kept my mouth shut for a while. They are there, there are just many layers involved. Meaning, not just one person to deal with, but multiple. It should all work out in the end.

Ok, I am getting some more solid information.

New in box base units, just like the day it rolled off the assembly line in the late 90's:
040 25mhz
2mb chip ram
no hard drive
scsi built in
all manuals
keyboard
OS 3.1

There seems to be maybe 2 dozen units, less than I expected. Quickpak 060 cards are separate and only a handful exist, maybe 3. The prices are also higher than I expected, my contacts are playing a little bit of hardball. I suspect the final price may turn a few people off, but we'll see. Hope to have more info soon.
