Where to obtain an RS232 adaptor?

You could buy a Retro Replay and a Silver Surfer from Individual computers. That will work with Novaterm and enable you to Telbbs (Internet BBS sites). It does not however work with Q-Link. Homebrew adapters are supposed to work with Q-Link. I could build you one, I have all the parts, but honestly I'd have to charge you. It's a slow process and the parts aren't all too cheap :-( Alternatively you could ask on C.S.C., maybe you can find someone selling one cheap.

I heard that when QLink was killed, all the files were deleted. What files are on QLR?

It's not the original Q-Link. You use the original software on your Commodore, but the server end is all new, reverse engineered. None of the original files and such are there.

-Edit-
I should also mention that it does NOT have anything to do with AOL, it's a hobby project. So please, no one call AOL insisting you want to sign up for Q-Link :lol:

As a matter of fact no, still the same as it has always done for me. No idea why. I tired the standard tcpser on my debian slave box, and it sits there doing nothing. Then I booted the same box into Wintendo98 and installed java and the java based tcpser, still no banana. With the config file you provided I am getting debug output, but Q-Link isn't connecting.. Just sitting there waiting to connect.

I tried again last night for the first time in quote a while. Do you know for sure that the Q-Link server is currently online?

Red, could it be possible to access it using a C64DTV??

Hmm, DTV version 1? Not likely as afail there is no user port. Now the Hummer DTV (64DTV version 3), possibly. There are some user port lines on it, don't know if it's enough to wire a rs232 interface to. Havn't looked :-) I do have a HummerDTV with keyboard and IEC though:-)

-Edit Hummer is version 3

@kd7ota

Should we move this meeting to IRC? I know it could be considered less purist, but everybody should be able to attend even on a real C=.

NO!!! Please don't! Any attention brought to this hobby project may find AOL shutting it down! Just look how Amiga Ince lashes out at people who boot an A1000 with KS3.1! :-x
