It is a nice idea, but it will never happen.  These are being sold as dirt-cheap, plug into the tv, toys, nothing more.

Just like the £20 megadrive 5-in-1 pads at my local Tesco.  99% of the people who buy them don't want or need anything else, and the other 1%, the "enthusiasts", probably already have a C-One, or an old C64 lying around.

If there was still a market for the C64, or C64 software, then they would still be on sale.  There isn't, so they aren't.  People have moved on.

I wouldn't be so fast to jump to this conclusion..

Ok, just noticed this from Jeff's DTV Hacking forums today. It seems
that Curt Vendel, one of the Atari Flashback dev team, has revealed
that a company in the Netherlands is working on a c64DTV into a
keyboard?

Not Nick Coplin's hack, this seems to be a commercial enterprise:

As Curt said in this thread -
http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=78664

"Actually the Commodore C64 and assets are now owned by a company in
the Netherlands and they are working on a C64 in a keyboard."

Jeri Ellsworth has been rather busy and also created a DTV Hummer game:

:-D

Wow, I didn't know she had another one finished already! Looks like this is C64DTV based with a full user port and better GFX than a stock C64. Interesting.. I'll be watching this one..

Makes me think, what a shame we will probably never see a AmigaDTV. For one they'd probably never find McBill, if they did this would be the conversation.

Mammoth Games: We'd like to license the Amiga name to create DTV joysticks with 30 classic Amiga games.

McBill: We'd be happy to accommodate! The license fee is $75 per unit.

Mammoth Games: Uh, McBill our target retail price is $19.95.

McBill: No, sorry, $75 per unit.

Mammoth Games: -click-
