good you unlocked it, so all can speak and not only the few rich... i was once an amigan too. but i got squeezed away from my amiga love. its to expensive and os4 still not out of beta and support the hardware. i cant find any reason or excuse to buy into the nextgen amigas. but its good that we have a 100 rich people around here that at least hold it alive. so we know it will not die out completely. while i wait (fence sitter since 2000) i will just fiddle around with aros and winuae... until things get better.

Well I would not call myself rich, but in debt to have X1000. High goals deserve high sacrafice. Used or new SAM 440s are out of your reach?

They are increasingly on sale :-)

I'm very sad to read this!

:(

Eh?

The sacrifice is obvious, but what goals?

Well, in capitalism you have to take loans, that gives a whole machinery a fuel and keeps you obligated.

Goal ... to have a high end Amiga of my choice once in life. To keep its use to maximum as it allows it. To support development of OS as much as I can as user (Buying software, supporting websites, reporting bugs, making reviews ...), to experience AmigaOS 4 to its best (compared to SAM 440 and second hand experiences on SAM 460 and PPC expanded Classic).

That would summ it :) So no-no for new phone and tablet and mighty PC or Mac or even a used car, but yes to X1000

I know that feeling all too well. :(
If you aren't using it, any chance you'll sell it back to me for the same generous price I sold it to you at?

I promise i'll use it to develop OS4 software. :)

Nicholas, there is unused SAM 440 at Amiga Bounty as loaner, for a start.

I am surprised that there are so many Amiga users spending over US$3,000 on the X1000 computer.

I remember many users bitchin' in the 90s that their 512k KS 1.2/1.3 A500 were unable to use the latest software.

How times have changed! :biglaugh:

I am sure they eventualy bought 1MB FAST, but in the end we all needed 040-060 or even PPC with lost of RAM. And many have given equivalent if $3000.

So, times change as well as hardware, but Amiga seems not to be a cheap game, especially as it went out of mainstream market. But somehow I still prefer supporting strange alternative.
