Just completing repairs on one of my A2000's. Installed Workbench 3.1, and now contemplating re-installing 0S 3.9. I'm also thinking about installing it on my other newer (to me at least!) A2000, which is actually running WB 1.3 from a hard drive. (Got both from eBay, the newest one with the older version of WB was nabbed last week.)
My question is: Do I really need to install 3.9 or any GUI? I had it before, but all I really did was 'look' at it. I had even given it a NIC (X-Surf) for Internet and local network capability, a media player for my network stored media files, a graphics accelerator, and a bunch of other cool stuff. But, again, all I ever really did was look at it, and marvel at the fact that we (my Amiga and I!) were ever even able to do any of that cool stuff at all!
This time, I'm only planning on playing old Amiga games, and not much more than that, MAYBE network (so I can move files back and forth), that's about it, I guess.
So, do I really need a full GUI for that? Is there some cool 'other' GUI out there that I should know about, or consider trying? I wonder...

Softkick 2.0 ROM and install at least 2.05
With softkicked 3.1 ROM you can install 3.1,3.5 or OS 3.9
depending on your CPU and FAST RAM.
3.1 with ScalOS is good balance.
DO NOT TRY AROS 68k it will not work!
