Amiga 1000 prices...

Is it just me, or have Amiga 1000 prices really gone up over the last few months?  This buffoon notwithstanding (he keeps RAISING the price and has to be trolling), what seemed to be a $200 purchase for a model in good shape a year or two ago seems to a $500-$1000 purchase for a machine in good condition.  What gives?

What's funny is his comment at the bottom of the post:

I'm not sure what he is hoping to accomplish. I've watched the auction for months and he keeps raising the price.  Does he think his little threat will cause someone to "jump" on it before it gets to $10,000?  He's also selling some Epson dot matrix printer from the 80s for $2,900.  For laughs, I emailed him and asked how much memory it has and if it has a hard drive.
 
At any rate, I'm kicking myself for not jumping on one of the $200-$300 units a year ago.

Odd, there are three on eBay starting at <$200

None are in great condition.  The one that is in really nice condition states that the guy can't get it to work with the monitor.  The monitor may be bad or it may be the A1000, not sure.  Not sure I can take the chance as parts for the A1000 are hard to come by.   I ought to ping my friend, as he was going to give me his A1000 but I suspect it isn't in great condition either.  I don't have a way to hook it up to a monitor however and I'm really not sure I want another Commodore monitor.  Any suggestions on a cheap way to connect one to a modern monitor?

P.S.  The guy I referred to earlier raised his price to $5,900.  LOL!  I PMed him this morning and asked if his wife was making him get rid of it.  I bet he'll reply with a snarky response.    I think I saw a brand new, never opened A1000 last year or the year before for less than his asking price.

Look for seller "rbredow" selling a working 2 MB a1000 starting at $50 on eBay.

What about a fully working A4000D, A4000T, towerized A4kD, or fully expanded A2500HD refurbished to "pretty near" new?

Already have an expanded A2000 and an A3000.  Not a fan of the AGA Amigas to be honest.  I know the A1000 is limited, but it has sentimental value to me and I have always wanted one.
