PulsatingQuasar: A  trollish approach. Comparing apples and oranges here.  But.. It's your view to this situation.

My view to original question. IF you are comfortable on potential outcome that OS4 never matetialises (or that it does not work as well as you want) you need to consider what to do with your hardware. As a generic Linux computer it's way overpriced and underpowered and even compared to eisting and widely available PPC-Macs it's not on same level.

Personally that amount of money (well over 1000 euros with necessary hardware) is so much money I need to see/test it well before spending it. Some may have that much to spend on hobby computer, I don't..  (this ain't my #1 priority in life)

Agafaster: Well.. Most likely it's When . But I don't want to make vague promices for someone who is thinking on spending 1200-1500 Euros to a new computer hardware.  For comparision (sorry) I have also recommended people not to upgrade Pega1 to G4 .. it's not IMHO good move (rather wait pega2) but full discussion of it goes way out of this thread topic, let's just say I tty to evaluate value/cost and see what's likely to best approach.

Good thing in this situation is that Hyperion people have learned a lot during last 2 years. Like some hareash relities of OS porting. If they were start it now, they could avoid some blunders, like way too overoptimistic shedules shown on year - year and half ago... We could have avoided a lot unnecessary fights here (and on other boards etc) if people had got more realistic info of project progress from the beginning.

And the really big question WHEN? I have to say it'll take some time still to get OS4 to Aone cause they don't have PPC coded CSPPC version of it either.  But any detailed quesses would only lease those pointless fights so.. We'll see when it's ready.
