hello to all Viper1260 users
It's been almost 1 year since I have been using mine
I occasionally get stuck.
I want to know:
do I have to do the hardware changes to the A1200 mother board or not? (I mean desoldering 2 resistors on the bottom surface of the MB, depending on which Budgie rev. I have)
I have had mine since august 2003 and it has been running very stable. My mobo rev is 2B and it has the "Apollo patches" (it was patched already when I bought it), so maybe you should try patching your mobo..
Has any of you overklocked the Viper1260?
When I had BlizzardPPC I used Blizkick, can I use it with Viper too? and how?
I tried overclocking it from 56MHz to 66MHz but the computer wasnt very stable after that. The CPU heated too much. I have my A1200 in its original desktop case and there is not much space for heatsinks, so maybe it is possible with proper cooling or newer revision of the CPU which is better overclockable. If you try overclocking yours, remember to solder a socket for the oscillator to make life easier :-)
