Yeah, but the one i pointed you at is pretty helpfull as it shows you exactly what to do, not just playing around.

You can put a normal mic (like my samson r21s) in audio line 1 [dynamic], just tested

Well, it should have a range from C0 - C9.

What do you do hit a switch and get all the other keys?

Just press 'Octave shift' up or down.

i'm planning on adding a keyboard at some point as wel.. still learning octamed.

The korg can also act like a masterkeyboard.

So to those who are using these with OctaMED (more here than I expected, wow!), can I send commands from within OctaMED to control more than just the keys? I.E. Adjust the filter, mixer, lfo, etc.?

Also, how do I tell octamed to not only trigger a key on the keyboard, but also to hold it down instead of press and release?

That should be possible, so check the ss guide. Read the chapter named 'The MIDI Cmd 3cxx Window'. With command 05 and 00 you should be able to control everything. And check the korg manual for the controllers & values.

Well, the OctaMED S.S. guide often times tells me to refer to the hard manual which I do not have, so...

....does anyone happen to have it in PDF?

There isn't a pdf (unless someone created on). I have octamed 6 & 7 (SS) which both came on cd, so no 'hard manual'. BTW, the right manual for SS is called Manual and not octamed.guide. :confused:

Also there are many functions in the guide that I do not understand. Such as when it talks about using HEX values, or when it shows symbols such as $0F or something to that effect...

You can't use the $ sign in OctaMED, so what is it trying to tell me?

Leave the $ sign off ! Just use the value.
It works the same way for samples as for midi, most commands are for samples & midi, some for samples only, some for midi only.

I don't recall seeing a file titled "Manual".

Just got back from the musick store. Turns out that I need to buy a new mixer board as the one I'm using (old 80's mixer) does not have gain, which is something I need.

If you use the mixer to (only) make music, you don't need gain. Gain is for dj's, who need it for setting the pfl (cue) level.

umm what are you talking about? Gain is used to boost the channel for whatever purpose.. not just for cue.

Well, you could use a dj mixer for boosting tracks, if that's the only thing you're gonna do with it (you could also sample it and use normalize to boost tracks, btw). But a studio mixer, which has gain on the mono channels and -10/+4 switches on the stereo channels to boost thinks up, might be a bit better if doing some more production work. I have both type of mixers and it's just easier to make tracks on a studio mixer.

My buddy is a DJ, and while he is very talented and really a great guy, he has given some terrible advice on gear as it all seems to be nothing but machines that make quick easy dance beats

You should find a good shop in the area, to let you inform about what you really want.

As for me, I have no interest in making people dance. If what I put out happens to make a person feel like dancing, that that is purely accidental side effect.
