Trouble using amiga emulator on mac and on windows on mac
« on: February 09, 2011, 08:37:36 AM »
Today I purchased the Amiga forever software in the hope of running old amiga programs.  Running a 2.8GHz Intel Core 2 Mac.  Followed the links below and whilst they were helpful to a degree I have nothing other than a general workbench type screen on my mac.

I'd prefer to run an Amiga on the Mac side of the computer (no viruses) but as I'm desperate I also tried to download it to the Windows 7 side run on VMware fusion. Unfortunately I couldn't unzip the file.

About to try downloading a third time (to windows 7 again)  which will take another age..

Basically I'd like to know a resource out there that can instruct a dummy with mac osx on how to get the Amiga emulator E-UAE going and how to set up Hi-Toro.  It would be really helpful to me and become a resource for many others.  Information on the web seems a little vague or doesn't work in parts. The links above are quite quite good attempts but exact instruction is required. (Would be nice).

Does someone with the know how have "IshowU" software on their mac?  If you could post a how to video on youtube using photobooth it would be wonderful.  I have so many problems I just don't know where to start.

If it helps I have 8 more downloads left.  Maybe you could reinstall everything to your computer using one of my downloads.  THere may be copyright issues here but if you posted it to youtube it would help Amiga Forever customers to work out what is going on.  Thanks.

Ok still having trouble.

Will settle for running it on windows but I don't know where I'm going wrong.  From a 5 hundred and something megabyte download I only end up with one af11cd.zip file and its only 400 megabytes.  I burn it to disk on windows 7 and nothing happens.  Windows can't open it.

Haven't used the product keys once but have downloaded the software 3 times so far.  Another attempt will take place overnight.  It is frustrating that there is no proper instruction manual for this.

I'm not the best on computers but I'm no dummy either.  Can someone push me in the right direction?  Thanks

Thanks for the reply, but still can't even burn an image to CD.  Apparently if I right click an iso file on windows 7 (according to the microsoft website and instructions from amiga forever), I should simply then select burn image to CD.  Well it's not doing it.  Maybe the way it came is not in an iso zip format or something.

Have given up on trying to install it to OSX, but would really like to start playing some games of yesteryear (on Windows 7).

I've invested hours into these attempts and it seems have got me nowhere.  Time to email Amiga Forever I think, although from what I read at the download there may not be much customer service, the things I'm having problems with are assumed knowledge.

You mentioned that you still have the Amiga forever in storage?  So you never really got to enjoy the Amiga experience despite purchasing it?  To me that's a surprise especially since there seems to be so many legal downloads of classic games. I'm in Sydney too, thanks.

Look forward to any further knowledge being shared.

Cheers, the Amiga Forever technical support emailed me link that directly installed it to my computer. (Windows side of mac run on VMware Fusion).

Awesome.    Next step for me will be to buy and work out how to use a joystick.

I'd still like to hear from Mac users about their method for setting up the amiga emulator on mac os x but really I don't know if I can be bothered now that I have played around on the amiga forever player on Windows 7 for an hour or so.

My assumption that customer service for Amiga forever wasn't going to be sufficient was proven wrong.  I was sent the solution to my problem in a matter of hours.
