Large Hardrives .. ( an Opinion poll )
« on: November 06, 2005, 04:36:13 PM »
I'm wondering why so many ppl seem to want these
large HD's (20, 30, 80 gig).
I understand it on the PC with all the bloated
software but not on the Amiga unless you're doing Video.

I have a 3.2 gig as my main (internal) drive and a 9 gig
external (less than 25% full) for data backup (files are
in compressed form).
The only reason I have the external drive is I lost all
my data (files) a few years ago because I didn't have a
second 'backup' drive. Any drive under 4 gigs would serve
quite well for this.

Unless you are running OS 3.5 or 3.9, it is a hassle
to get these larger than 4 gig  drives working.

My question is ...."Why do you want to"

I have almost every piece of software I own on the external
drive and still have a 'TON' of room.

Just curious  :-)

@Mr_500

I'm using a Quantum FireBall 3.2 gig 7200 rpm 50 pin SCSI.
Its a fast drive, under 4 gigs and very Amiga friendly.
IMHO the best drive ever made (for Amiga).
And they're usually cheap on EBay (around $10.00 or $15.00).
