My Computer Icon in Win2K
« on: November 03, 2003, 05:48:37 PM »
Is there a program to hide the My Computer icon from the desktop?  I want to have seperate icons for each drive on the desktop itself and get rid of the My Computer icon totally.

I'm getting annoyed going into My Computer then C: or wherever, I just want to go straight into C: .

I've downloaded TweakUI 2000 and it doesn't have an option for hiding My Computer.  It can hide/show specific drives within My Computer, but it can't get rid of the desktop icon itself.

@mikeymike

I'm not too keen on changing the registry myself for this. :-)

@tpk

I've got Network whatever hidden on my 2k box and it's had no consequences (yet ;-) ).

my tip is , throw the pc out , install Dopus magellan 5.82 or os3.9 and remove all your icons.

if I threw out the pc that means I'd be surfing the net on a 640 * 256 free version of AWeb in 256 colours.  No thanks :-P

I already have Dopus 5.5 on my A1200, I also have 5.8, but I uninstalled that after it almost crippled my chip ram.  I have os3.9 though :-)

then you can come on here and ask how to get the icons back :DDD

I already know how to hide/show icons on the Miggy :-P :-D

You know, this is the best place to ask for PC help because you don't get patronising people telling you that you're useless and then giving you completely stupid replies that don't work.  All this from people who think they are above you when all they're trying to do is put one-up on each other :-P

This is an Amiga USER forum.  I'm an Amiga USER, it's just unfortunate that some of us need to use PC's from time to time :-(

Anyway, rant over with, let's get back to the point ;-)

I don't see what's wrong with discussing an alternative OS on the Alternative OS forum.

Sssh!  I just moved this thread there :-)

*me whispers "so that's why I couldn't find it!" :-)

It's possible, but you're probably better off with an alternative desktop shell like Talisman or LiteStep.

Unfortunately I can't do that.  The PC is used by Siouxsie aswell and she only know the usual "Windows" layout.  She's at uni and works so she doesn't really have time to learn a new layout just now.

Maybe during the next holidays though ;-)

@that_punk_guy

Congrats on making it to Defender of the Faith! :-D

Wait a minute.....

*me looks at the post counts*

Crap, you're only 282 behind me now! :nervous: :-D
