The red screen does indeed mean a ROM error.

AFAIK (according to the Z4 Tower instructions) the power for the motherboard should be put into the busboard if you have one and NOT the A1200 mobo itself.  This is possibly why you get the black screen when the accel is plugged in - the power isn't in the right place.

I don't know if this will be the same for your busboard though.

I've downloaded that archive myself (nicely done Jaruzel)

Micronik03.jpg is the one you need from that archive I think.

With the power pins infront of you and the bar at the top of it
