What is a Good Alternative to the X1000 Computer? Is the Pegasos 2 Motherboard still up to date with the latest Amiga Software. Does it run slower than AmigaOne computer's that have been released within the last few years since Pegasos 2 is almost 10 years old now. How much are PowerPC's these days? Thanks.
i've used both machines, and although a pegasos2 is a nice little board (it's my main machine, currently), it doesn't hold a candle to the X1000. there's always the SAM460 boards to look at, too. i've not been their biggest fan given the lack of expandability, but it might meet your needs. but there's plenty of options:

  • SAM440ep and SAM440ep-flex boards (used)
  • SAM460ex and SAM460cr boards
  • AmigaONE XE systems (used)
  • Pegasos 2 systems (used)
  • microA1 systems (used)
  • AmigaONE X5000 (future)
but as for the X5000, i wouldn't plan on getting one anytime soon. just based on how long it took the X1000 to ship, it'll be a while yet. :)

in all seriousness -- if you can afford the X1000, that's the way to go in my view. but whatever you choose, have fun with it!

"You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn’t have come here."
