As for it being a resource hog, I suspect it leaks memory like there's no tomorrow (at least something on my system does, MUI is my prime suspect).
I think you should rather suspect some of the mui custom classes. Make sure they are all up to date.
My MUI system doesn't leak memory at all - not even after 40 days of uptime
Oh, and yes, it's MorphOS with the #?MUI.
AmigaOS uses ReAction with a complimentary addition of MUI.
