It wasn't meant to be posted here - that's why it wasn't posted already. Just showed it to a select few. Oh well, now that the cat is out of the bag I might as well set a few things straight.

I am guilty of writing him back in a similar tone. It was rather a good vocabulary exercise since one hardly ever gets to use that selection of words. It didn't even feel that good to do it, but hey, if the guy uses those words, it must be because he thinks they have some effect.

Anyway, as we've seen before in the forums this isn't the only example of Buck's writing.

That said, Buck certainly got a few of his facts wrong.

First of all it is true that we did talk at WoA. Bill does not seem to recall what we talked about though. He seems to think it was about the Pegasos, which it wasn't. He also claims that I was disrespectful to Mark Olsen, which according to my memory isn't true - in that case I hereby apologise to Mark if he's reading this. He asked us if we we're friends, since we we're both Danish, and we looked at each other and answered "no". We still had a little chat afterwards, since we do know each other and I don't see any disrespect in that.

He is absolutely right about one thing though. Mark is a way better coder than me. I'm not a coder at all (well, only dabbling around anyway).

Regarding my CV, I'll just mention the relevant part for this community: I've managed the Pagan Games projects Earth 2140 and Blobula (both released to great critical acclaim), run the amiga.dk site since sometime in the mid-90s, been a more or less active demo scener, used to run a Danish second-hand buy/sell site for Amiga (there is now both Amibench and another Danish site, so no need for that any more), and finally I ran a list of Danish user groups (which will be up again once the brand new custom-coded Amiga.dk gets up and running). This has always been besides other jobs and my studies of course. I think that more or less wraps it up for my CV in the Amiga business. I got mine in '87 and have had almost every existing Amiga model.

To answer the two questions he put: No, I haven't been a soldier, and good riddance. I do practice martial arts though. Oh, and I still think football (soccer) sucks. The only good kind of soccer is Shaolin Soccer.

So, now you have it. Let's see what Bill Buck can come up with. First of all there was something about a really successful company called ... VisCorp. I believe they became famous for STBs and not putting their money where their mouth was. Nowadays mainly famous for abusing people it seems.

As for what triggered his reaction: well, I tried to find the thread again without any luck. As I recall I said something like "Viscorp should have bought the Amiga name when they had the chance instead of leeching of other peoples' IP". And besides that I said that they'd manage to alienate me even more by sponsoring military and soccer - two things I hate dearly.

I did find some of what must have triggered it. I understand that this may have been provocative to Buck from his perspective, but that's the way I feel about it. And no level of personal abuse in personal messages will change the way I feel about it or make me shut up if there's something I want to say. You can see what I said here.

I don't see anything there that calls for the level of personal abuse he starts out with.

I shall refrain from answering this abuse of classical literature. People, please read what is before you and make up your own mind about Bill Buck.

To use another classical phrase: "Would you buy a used car from this man?"

Maybe one day the anti Bucks campaign will end but the more it continues the more sad and obsessed you people sound

So you think what he's done is perfectly reasonable?
Sheesh. You never do cease to amaze me Paul.

but this anti Bucks campaign is just way OTT and i find it disgusting how members of the Amiga community could attack an individual so badly.

As far as I can see I was the only *person* being attacked here. In my previous postings I did not attack a person directly. I "attacked" an operating system by saying it was not ready for prime time - which was a genuine concern of mine. I also said that MorphOS should make it on its own merits instead of riding on the shoulders of others. I don't see how that is an attack on Mr. Buck.
