Extracting Samples from MED files
« on: April 06, 2014, 01:58:48 PM »
I have just discovered a bunch of my old MED tunes some are probably done on the PC version of Octamed and others from the Amiga.

Its been quite nostaligic going through them!

Id like to rip some of the samples out of the tunes and perhaps use some of them in one or two of my new tunes.

Does anyone know of any good tools to rip them out on linux ?

Best i can come up with so far is using XMP to write out each channel
of a file out to a wav file and cut them out manually. Unfortunately that means any affects will also be applied (such as volume changes or pitch changes etc)

Is there a MED importer for Renoise?

Nick

sounds like a plan - i dont really care if the tracks loose some of their MED specific data as im only interested in the samples! It didnt occur to me to convert to .MOD first!
