VMM on A1200
« on: January 05, 2003, 04:32:52 PM »
Hello,

I have an A1200 with GVP A1230 II Turbo+.  It has 4 meg of fast ram.  I am trying to run Descent, and the documentation says it needs 8 meg fast, or 2 meg fast and VMM...

Well, I found VMM on Aminet, but whenever I click Use the screen goes black and I have to reboot.  I have KS3.0/WB3.0, and 030/40.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Neofree

About the chip, is there a way to tell from GVP's utility?  I imagine it's whatever GVP's most common 030/40 is for this model.

About the screen, 640x200 256 colors.

smartalec: I am in US, so 640x200 is what I get.  If I was using PAL, I could use that mode.  It doesnt matter anyway, because Descent prompts you for the mode to use anyway.  And I've been picking 320x200.

scropp: I bet you're right.  I found a program called memlib on aminet that claims to work without mmu, but it gives "Recoverable Error" so much I have to reboot.

Surely there is something I can use?  I wish I could use normal SIMMs with this GVP board.  Does anyone know where I can get GVP mem cheap?

I found 3 other VMM programs that dont need MMU.  I will try these, plus am looking for GVP SIMMs.   I will still check to see if I have MMU, but if memory serves, I do have the EC chip.
