GoldenGate BridgeBoard and Windows311
« on: March 14, 2012, 02:51:16 AM »
I have Been able to install and use Windows 3.11 (only has enhanced mode) when installed on a real HD connected to the IDE interface.

But the GGBB can use an Amiga Partition of Amiga Hard File, both of these fail and  never load WFW311, just loads splash screen and returns to the dos prompt.

Unlike Windows 3, you cannot disable enhanced mode and this appears to be the issue.

I have checked the BOOTLOG and nothing indicated.

I have tried all the WIN /B options individually and all with no success.

Wondering if anyone has WFW311 running on a GoldenGate using a HardFile or Amiga partition successfully.

I have tried 25MB, 50MB, 100MB+ for the hard files

and have a dedicated 200MB Amiga partition that I have partitioned as small as 25MB and installed WFW311.

I have also tried different WFW311 media.

Online data is indicating that the HardFile and Partition use an emulation module to simulate these interfaces as IDE, but don't offer direct disk access and that is required for Enhanced Mode.

My A2000 is already 100% full and my goal was to test and setup on actual IDE HD and eventually transfer to Amiga Partition to save space.

But unless someone else is doing it, it may not be possible. :(
