well m8, im an ex 1260 owner but did know mine inside out, even if i haven't had it for a year, and haven't used it for another 2.

basically just copy the dummy 040.library to libs (should only be like 1k if that) making sure it replaces the original 68040.library.

after that, copy the 060 library into libs too.
afaik just renaming the 060 library as the 040 library used to work too, but just stick to what i said to start with.

your computer crashes when setpatch runs, and it tries to turn on the 060 (it thinks it's an 040 really) onto full blast, all the caches fpu stuff etc etc.
since its trying to init an 040 with the default libs, it hangs!
incidentally to start with i too took my amiga apart but u learn after a while, and its not necessary to take it apart to put the beast into the trapdoor!

i should know, i had a scsi kit too with both simm sockets full!

also i used to have to fiddle a little to get mine nice and secure and to avoid flashing red/purple etc screens!
hope this helps, if u need further info, drop me a line!
 :-)

sniff sniff.. i miss my 1260 and workbench! :'-(
