PIONEER DRM-624X
« on: January 18, 2004, 07:33:36 PM »
Hi All,
I have a Pioneer DRM-624X 6 disk magazine type external CD drive.  I bought it on eBay and it seem to be in good condition.  I am still using Asim CDFS 2.0 which lists this series of Pioneer drives but as 6xx-X.  I assume that was because they were constantly upgrading the read speed and the last two xx digits were the speed.  CDFS sees this drive and asks me how I want to configure it, (one drive or six).  I go through all the motions and it still won't put any icons on the workbench screen.  When I boot up the drive goes through all the slots  and then lets the machine continue booting up.  I thought that maybe that was the problem so I pulled the mag and put it back in after boot up.  It still went through all the mag looking at every CD but put nothing on the workbench screen.  I looked at it with OPUS where it is shown but it says there is no disk in it.  I am wondering if anybody has this drive and if so do they know anything I can do to fix it or troubleshoot it.  I sort of wonder if the laser is bad or not functioning.  It could be the pick-up too.  All ideas and suggestions are appreciated.  Thanks.

Dave

I DON'T THINK PIONEER IS AN ACRONYM, AND THEREFORE I DOUBT IT SHOULD BE ALL IN CAPITALS LIKE THIS.

Sometimes all capitols are used for emphasis ...Seen any billboards lately?  Also, PIONEER chose to put it that way on the front of the drive.  Given a choice I think I'll go with them.  After what I've seen written here I have to ask if you actually think anyone cares?

Try connecting it to a PC?

I did but there are no drivers for it for XP and none of my PC's are runing older versions of Windows.  Also I no longer have a SCSI board for the PC's as it was also outdated by the new OS.
