DPS PAR board
« on: November 18, 2004, 07:29:19 PM »
Several months ago I posted an inquiry about the DPS PAR board.  I had read somewhere in the past that about any of todays IDE drives could be used with the PAR board.  I bought my PAR new back in 94 and bought the recommended drive for it at that time.  It was a 1.6 GB Micropolis 5.25" drive.  It barely fit in the 5.25" drive bay of the Amiga 2000 and even then I had to cut out the front of the case for it and make a special grille cover for it.  I still have that drive and it is still working with the PAR.  I would like to put a small but larger capacity IDE drive or even two on the PAR.  The PAR can only see 8 GB so it is hard to buy a new suitable IDE drive for it.  I have quite a collecrion of server pull drives in the 4 to 10 GB range.  None of them will work with the PAR though.  I have hooked them up to my PCs and even bought special software to wipe them clean but no matter what I do nothing seems to make the drives work with the PAR.  I would very much like to hear from somebody out there that has encountered this problem and beat it.

Yep, I'm afraid so.  I did a temporary retreat and decided to put the beast back together because I need to use it.  It really doesn't make sense to me why I am having this problem.  I don't mean to take joy in your difficulties but It is comforting to know that somebody else has experienced problems with this.  Somewhere I have a list of drives that are supposed to work and it is a list expanded far beyond the original list in the manual.  If I find it are you interesed in seeing it?  I have this strange feeling that I am going to stumble onto that list and some drives as soon as I get this beast back together and in the rack in my studio.  It has been out far too long now and I have need for it.  BTW, I think that list came from DPS before they were absorbed into another company.

I sent you a message regarding that manual you wanted.  Check your Amiga.org mail.
