Video Toaster and the YCP-100
« on: August 10, 2004, 05:18:09 PM »
Hi All,
Back in December 2003 I acquired a Newtek VT-2000 Amiga on Ebay that was used in a production studio.  Although it was a 2000 it had a VT-4000 toaster board in it.  The PS was dead and so was the battery on the mother board.  No TBC boards were in it and it appeared that there never had been any in it.  I have a lot of 2000's sitting around in various conditions from operable to just spare parts.  The best of the lot is my original 2000 I bought new way back when.  Since I had done some modifications to it that I wanted to keep I decided to replace my VT-2000 board with the newer VT-4000 toaster board.  I have a DPS TBC-4 and a DPS PAR board that work in conjunction with the toaster so I kept those in the system.  The VT Amiga I acquired had a Faroudja labs Y/C adapter card in it,(YCP-100).  I want to use this card since most of my video equipment is S-Video.  I found this card and a brief description at http://www.amiga-hardware.com/ycp100.html   There are some general specs there but no way to know how to hook up the two ribbon cables that I believe go to the toaster.  These were not hooked up when I got the unit and I have no manual to guide me.  From what I can tell this card may also have some sort of time base correction built in.  If this is the case I would be able to do away with two other TBCs I am using.  I would like to know if anyone out there has had some experience with this adapter card or can help me find a manual or some sort of better documentation.  I was hoping that someone who worked in a post production studio or TV station might know something about the YCP-100.  Thanks.

Dave

Y/C Plus is still in business, working the PC market.

The last address I have for them is:

Y/C Plus, Inc.
310 SW 6th Ave
Topeka, KS 66603

Phone 913 235-3553

http://www.ycplus.com is their current URL and you can download a PDF of their manual for the board.

Best,

Bob Kennedy

Thanks Bob.  I went to that URL and downloaded the Acrobat version of the manual.  I think that will tell me what I need to know.  Their description of operation seems to indicate their may be onboard time base correction.   Only testing will tell.  If you have had any experience with this product or similar products I would be interested in hearing from you in depth via e-mail.  Thanks again...
