A2000 HDD Boot Issue
« on: January 11, 2014, 11:31:29 PM »
I have a A2000 that will not boot from the drive. I get the Guru software error but I can boot from the Floppy drive. I even tried to wipe the drive and re-install using Amiga disk.. No luck..
The A2000 arrived with GVP Impact A2000-HC Card and SupraRAM 2MB RAM Card installed.
Tried removing the RAM card, made sure all chips are not loose on the board, battery did not leak and no Power issue. My last option is to replace the drive, but I like to know if I'm missed anything..
OK, got to run....the Seahawks game is on......:juggler:
Thanks...

That's not much to go on, but, it does sound like the HDD didn't survive shipping.

Here is the error I get when I attempt to prep the drive!!!

Check jumpers on back of drive please. One may have come loose.

I did check the jumpers and only one is installed at the Primary position..
Also, I do not hear the Quantum ProDrive 40MB SCSI HDD spinning at all!!!

BTW.. Since I have Kickstart 1.2, the GVP Impact A2000-HC card will not support autoboot. Just something I discovered and made sure autoboot is disables...

I have made good progress on this project.

First, I upgraded the A2000 to KS v2.05..
Second I pulled a HDD from another A2000 and that solved the problem.

As you can see, the A2000 is up and running...

The video looks bad because this drive was pulled from A2000 with Microway FlickerFixer AGA 2000 Card which I will move it to this A2000 next.

But, the first issue is the HD LED cable..If I leave it plug to the card. it will not boot from the HDD. Would I plug this cable direct to the HDD and not the GVP Impact A2000-HC Card?
