From what I can see after taking apart my own 1010 drive, you'd have to take the cable that connects to the floppy port and desolder it from the control board that the 1010 comes with, then connect the cable to the external Gotek controller board mentioned after desoldering the floppy drive connector. 

Might be better to get a 3d printed case than sacrificing the case of a 1010.
