Speakers for Amiga?
« on: August 17, 2011, 01:36:41 PM »
So after a night of screaming at my bad luck, I am now in research for a new set of speakers for my PC.

I have a set of Logitech G51s, and I use them for my PC and my Amiga.

They have an AUX input in the back that the Amiga connects to, well recently the right channel input stopped working, I took the thing apart (best that I could, who uses 15+ screws and glue in a speaker box?) to see if any solder joints were messed up, and couldn't find any, tried resoldering them anyhow, but still same thing, the rest of the speakers work perfectly fine, just the input for the right speaker (which of course means for the Amiga that I miss half the music, because the games actually fully utilized stereo sound!)

So to cut a long story short (Too late!) I'm looking for some speakers that will fit the bill, a 5.1 set, that has aux inputs that will sound nice and beefy for my Amiga.  (Well and the PC).

So what sort of speaker sets do you guys use?

Yeah, checked everything.  I freaked out at first, 'cause the Amiga sound would be more difficult to fix / replace.

I tried my laptop, I swapped channels, I tested everything.  It seems to come and go whether it wants to work right.

The 'controller' for the speakers has an headphone and microphone jack, I even tried a Y splitter going through the Mic Jack to see if I could get sound that way (no sound came out at that point, so not sure if that's not working, or just wouldn't work 'cause it's a mono or what the deal is with that.)

I have an A4000D if that helps at all.  I do have a Mediator in it, and I was thinking of testing out my Audigy 2 in there, but not sure if the emu10k1 supports that card or not (I thought it did, but I think it's technically a emu10k2, plus I was having all sorts of popping and static off that card, which is a shame, 'cause it's the platinum card, but I had to retire it...)

Are these the kind of Logitech speakers that all connect to a sub that houses the amp, etc? If so, you can take apart the sub and you should see a row of fuses somewhere (Logitech likes to cover them in a rubber coating and solder them in ).  There's a good chance you've just blown one of the fuses.

Hmm, I didn't see any fuses, but then there was a board deep inside that I couldn't quite get to, I'll look into that, thanks!
