My first Amiga was an A500 with a 1084S monitor (still have it, still working flawlessly) on 24 March 1991 from a local computer shop in Chania, Crete, Greece. The price? About 240.000 drachmas (about 700 euros).
Chania, eh? Busy, touristy, but still charming in its own way. I especially liked the boulevard with all the pottery salesmen, and was sorely tempted to bring something home.
My first Amiga, an unexpanded A500 with 1084S monitor, was bought in 1987 for the price of fl. 2300,--, which would be €1000 in today's money not counting inflation. I was looking at something to replace my Schneider CPC464: finding software was a nightmare for that thing. Some store pointed out that there had just been a new computer out with the name 'Amiga', and handed me a leaflet. I bought one two months later, I think. I got it at a store on the Korte Poten in the Hague, the Netherlands. The chain the store belonged to disappeared ten years later or so, but it kept on selling computers; I do not know if the store itself still exists as it's been years since I was there last.
