Antarctica offers best location for land-based telescope
« on: September 15, 2004, 07:51:46 PM »
According to this article on the NewScientist website, a particular spot on Antarctica offers the best location for land-based observations of the heavens. Its high altitude and stable climatic conditions make the atmosphere very stagnant at that point, resulting in increased clarity and sharpness of the images, sometimes rivalling those of the Hubble. The disadvantage of the location is painfully obvious, of course ;-).
Some people say that cats are sneaky, evil and cruel. True, and they have many other fine qualities as well.

The old or the modern version?
