I don't have time to use my MacMini "Amiga". Too busy with uni stuff at the moment. But i get 4 weeks off in about a months time so i will use it then. My mini needs a bit of maintainance like installing the Airport wireless card thingy and getting rid of that dreadful Apple startup sound.

Not sure what I want to do with the 1200. I have my 600 setup pretty sweet and use that for gaming. Never really tried any of the AGA games so the 1200 is a bit like the family silver. It only comes out for special occasions :D

If I were to mod it I would certainly tower it. Because if would want to mod the hell out of it. I seem to recall a 600 that someone had put into a desktop case.

Morph OS is something I would be curious to use if I still had my 4g mac mini. I do not envy you on maintaining the mini though. I had my old one open to install some new RAM. Such a tight space to work in.

Wait you have never tried Morphos even when you owned one?

I wouldn't waste my money on OS4.x for classic. I have heard it is rubbish. I have seen it on youtube and i fail to see the appeal over 3.x apart from the added eye candy, no tech support or updates, incompatibity issues and a massive reduction in speed. At least that is what i have heard - i think maybe from Franko? Not sure.

Yeah i agree that the Mac Mini is trying to impersonate an Amiga. Or maybe the other way around. I have a theory that the developers are all Apple loving zealots who secretly wish Amigas were Apples. They are trying to Applefy the Amiga community   :eek:

Also if you want to honour the Amiga you could start by stop using that crappy emulation dosbox stuff and use your real Amigas.

Yeah those are cool but i prefer the standard A3000. I like the desktop cases that CAN'T fit 5.25" devices. It seems ironic somehow...

I think the towers are sweet but they look ugly when you put in devices such as 5.25 drives that don't match the size and colour properly.

Never been a fan of desktops. I have always liked towers. but that is odd about the 5.25 devices.

Are you agreeing or disagreeing? I think 5.25 drives are too big. I prefer the smaller 3.25. But that's just me.

Anyway i think the A3000 is interesting as it is a contradiction. It was meant to be a workstation aimed at professionals at the same time they left no room inside or outside for 5.25" expansions. Oh the irony...

@Kesa,

Actually the A3000 was designed to be a Unix work station, only trouble is Commodore screwed this up to somehow, they made the Commodore Unix to expensive. Therefore no one bought it. It was a big waste of money. So the best machine they ever made failed, it was to expensive for the Professionals to use, and way to expensive, with little innovation for the home types to use.

smerf

Are you sure you are not mistaking the A3000 for the A3000T? The tower was designed to be used by sun systems but the deal fell through. I believe it was called the A3500?

Also i'm not sure the A3000 was designed to be a UNIX workstation. It could accommodate UNIX but it wasn't designed just for it though. Commodore noticed that users were putting accelerator cards into their A2000's and other stuff to beef them up and they realized there was a market opening for a high performance Amiga that didn't need upgrading straight out of the box. That's where the A3000 came from. At least that's how i see it. I was a bit too young then to really know what happened.

*EDIT* The A3000 was not designed to use UNIX but the A3000ux was. Those are 2 different machines.
