By the way, great mini-ITX project  Where did you get that cool Amiga looking SCSI case?

From Motorola, for free: Motorola closed down their European warehouse in Duesseldorf last summer and virtually the whole inventory was just thrown away (it was mostly stuff from the late 80s, replacement parts, industrial CPU boards with 6800x, unused and ten+ years old). Word got out, and some of the workers were nice enough to hand out things. I got two of these cases. One had a closed front, and that was the one to house the itx board. Regrettably, I damaged it when cutting out the front with a Dremel (for the LCD), and then had to use the CD-ROM case.

@CD32Freak:
Here is a nice mini-ixt site (peope there would take the CD32 in your avatar and mount an itx board in it in five minutes if you don't carefully guard it :-)

> Do you know if the GCC module for GoldEDAIX will be compatible with the AOS4 GCC compiler?

 I don't know if GoldED, as a whole, will work with AOS4. I have no contact with the developers, no access to betas, and will not purchase a PPC computer, A1 and/or Pegasos. I hope it will work, but it might not.

To answer your question: There is a C/C++ module included with GoldED, for C development, but no "gcc module". The C/C++ mode consists of various parts: syntax highlighting, online help, toolbar to run often-used commands (make etc), a program to set compiler options via a GUI, makefile generation, etc. I don't think that any of this would break, regardless of the gcc version. For example, if the gcc of OS4 has additional command line options, then those can still be used with the options program, which has a list for new  options.  However, syntax highlighting wouldn't recognize AOS4 functions, and online help wouldn't know about AOS4 prototypes, until the corresponding configuration files are updated.

As to the usefulness of the C/C++ mode, it depends on access to OS includes. If the AOS4 developer material is made available freely, as was the case recently with the OS39NDK, I'll make sure that it is included with GoldED, that syntax highlighting is up-to-date, that online help is available, etc, to make life as convenient as possible for AOS4 developers.

> I was under the impression that the package came with a pre-configured GCC installation

gcc 2.95.3/m68k is included on the GoldED AIX CD and optionally installed by the C/C++ mode, as is the vbcc compiler (which I prefer, because it can generate code for m68k AND ppc, and is much faster).  But you probably don't want to use the gcc/m68k variant under AOS4 - unless your goal is to create software that runs on all Amigas.

gcc compilers install to the "gg:" tree. That makes it easy to replace them.  There are now gcc variants for Morphos,  for WarpOS and soon for AOS4. If you get any of these variants and install it in "gg:", GoldED's C/C++ mode should be abe to use it just like the gcc/m68k variant included on the CD.

do I have to have transferred money from my acount to PayPal to pay you

I'd assume that's all handled by PayPal. Anyway, it is no longer necessary to use a bank account or even to register with PayPal: Credit cards are accepted now on the GoldED web site. I'd rather avoid accepting cards but it has turned out that such refusal is a big problem for some. For example, Italians can not use bank accounts with PayPal.
