Don't get the SAM reference, all I see is Acube selling OS4 for Amigas with PPC boards.

No, that's new and unlicensed hardware.  Right now, Hyperion can only sell OS4 for licensed Amigas.  That includes A1s and 68K Amigas that have PPC accelerator. SAM is SOL till Amiga Inc signs a contract allowing it to be official licensed Amiga hardware.

Let's call the SAM a PPC board for classic Amigas.
One that doesn't actually need to be attached to the Classic machine to run.

If they did, that would have made massive headlines everywhere with every single OS4 supporter crowing as loud as they could.  From everything I've been reading from contract (although it wasn't the final version) being published on the Net to RVBB's statements on licenseing issues, you'll find why I made that statement.  Everything I ever remember reading clearly specified that OS4 could *only* run on licensed hardware.  That covered Eyetech's back as well as Amiga Inc (since they both have a stake in hardware licensing fees).

I think they are putting the best face forward on this as they have little else to show. They could have easily said clearly what the status of SAM is, they chose not to do so.  That is saying alot by ignoring it entirely.

Only if they become licensed hardware platforms.

The problem is people are reading TOO much into it.  Yes, it's good news that OS4 will be out for PPC accelerated Amigas.  However, that is ALL the news.

They have a license to sell and distribute Amiga OS 4.0 from Hyperion. Seems that ACube may think, by my reading into it, that this may help or lead into them getting a license for thier PPC hardware. Let's all wait to see it that announcement comes.

No, that is what the spin is on this.  There is nothing to show that Acube has a license from Amiga Inc to make SAM a official Amiga (and thereby qualiflied to use OS4).  I doubt AI will contract Acube for it since they do not meet minimum requirements AND Hyperion is not on best terms with Amiga Inc after the byback fiasco.  I could be wrong, but let us see this announcement first.

What the announcement could be is that Acube is attempting to buy out Hyperion's contract.  Hyperion is in a bad legal position right now since it's a VOF and not a LLC while Acube is a LLC.  That makes Hyperion's owners liable for any law suit Amiga Inc may bring against them.

If it's been released, shouldn't the coupon ($50 and $100) be honored by Amiga Inc?  If it's been released, shouldn't the third party devs have been paid for their long and hard work?   :roll:

Guess they are correct since it's a final "pre-release" of OS4?  If it had been a OS4 release, alot of folks are due some cash and we know neither Hyperion nor Amiga Inc has any money to begin with.
