Are you saying that AOS is not suitable as an embedded OS?

Embedded devices is such a global description, but for the most part, none of the Amiga like OSs, including AOS itself, aren't suitable.  Some embedded devices, you can shoehorn in a desktop OS, but that doesn't mean they are a embedded OS.

Could I replace the 68000 with a 486 and run AROS on it?

Probably cheaper and less work to donate to AROS68K bounty.   :-D
