What error are you getting on booting the CD?  At worst, you can always run AROS hosted on your native OS.

Incorrect.  If you want a mobo that AROS supports (other then SATA/firewire which AROS does not currently support), get ASUS nVidia mobos.  Way back when I had Black Troll Technology Corporation active in retail, I made sure the product I was selling had AROS support.  AROS still benefits by the money I spent on nVidia (on ASUS) support.  Sound, 2D, NIC, works wonderfull.  Now there is even ATI support.
