I've been using AbiWord for a few years now.  The only thing I wish it did that it doesn't is print envelopes.  Other then that, if you happen to get a fairly stable release of AbiWord, your good to go.

My point is; I don't want Mozilla or OpenOffice
or .... I want software that can do what they do,
but faster and leaner

You have five options.

1. Use Linux and take advantage of a ungodly amount of man hours that took to get the code that far.

2. Just accept life is unfair and don't use anything  but CED or whatever Amiga apps are out there, in emulation.

3. Code your own programs to be better and leaner then Mozilla/OpenOffice/*.  Oh, you may want to recode TCP/IP stack, it's probably a port from one of the BSDs.

4. Go fire up your M$ machine and use Word.

5. Accept life is unfair and that doing without for having bragging rights about being a purist is stupid.  So use the application that took godawful number of man hours to create and a good Amiga coder's time to port over.

#5 and #1 are clearly the perferred actions, IMO.

For me, the first optoin would be #5 followed by #1. I hate having to reboot into a different OS to get something done.  It's a tool, not religous artifact.
