A600 serial data transfer

It's possible receive data across serial cable on my a600? I have cable, but I have just "install disk" of the Workbench 2.05. What can I do to view and change serial port configuration? What command or script I can use to put amiga serial port in open state for receive data?

When I turn on A600 what configuration default of serial port? On this configuration default A600 can receive data? Or I need change something?

I have only Install Disk, on this disk I don't have "Prefs/Serial"

About script, on Install Disk I don't have emacs.
