How are you with soldering?

You can make your own midi interface fairly cheaply. It's just a few opto isolators and DIN sockets; there were schematics on Aminet for years.

My soldering skills are mostly non-existent!. I struggle to re-solder the wiring in my guitar!

In that case, I wish you luck. I have two such interfaces, but I happen to need them.

Seriously, they aren't difficult to make. It's just level conversion and isolation; no data manipulation to perform or anything like that which would otherwise bring microcontrollers into it.
