Not exactly an amiga hardware question but..
« on: November 29, 2003, 06:02:09 PM »
Does anybody here use any Yamaha music hardware powered by the KPA3 power supply?

My tone generator has started turning off for no particular reason. If I leave it off for a while I can turn it on again ok, but then after an hour or two it will go again.

The tone generator itself shows no sign of overheating - this even happens when it is idle.

So I am wondering if its the tone gen or the power supply thats going awry. The little PSU does get quite warm, but no more than most transformers...

Any other amiga musicians (and I use the term 'musician' loosely when describing myself) using stuff powered by KPA3 have similar problems?

Well, this one is a fully fledged 32-part multitimbral XG box using both AWM2 and VL synthesis, so it sounds just fine :-P

However, there is definately somnething worrying about this latest trend'..

Actually, the MU100R is no longer in production. It's bigger brother the MU128 is like 2 of them in one box :-)

As it goes, I mostly use the AD inputs to process my amiga's raw audio when I am not actually doing any work on it.

Damn cool for amiga games, I can get any kind of environmental audio effects you could wish for

Hehe, agreed. The sound quality of dedicated kit is hard to beat.

Unless it was dirt cheap, I suspect the laptop was more expensive than my kit, which I got close to half price...

Anyow, steering back on topic, anybody know any issues with say the KPA3 power supply? I'm hoping its that and not the tone gen :nervous:
