With respect to amitcp 4, IIRC it can't handle DHCP. I configured my router, which is using DHCP, to reserve a particular IP address for my A1200 (based on the NIC's MAC address). I'm also pretty sure the DNS address in amitcp is pointing to the router as well.

Just checked and the name server is indeed pointing at the router.

You said you were able to ping devices on your network but you just couldn't resolve external addresses, right?

Try changing your amitcp settings for name resolution and use your router's IP address. Works fine for me.
