Permedia 2 Hardware Info required
« on: April 18, 2003, 11:22:37 PM »
Hi all,

Not often I post to this forum but I've had it up to the eyeballs searching for hardware info on the Permedia 2 :roll:

Does anybody know where I can get hold of information detailing the TVP4020 (Permedia 2) hardware register set / timing info / instruction set etc?

I've been firing requests into google all week, scoured both Texas Instruments and 3DLabs and haven't come up with anything resembling the information I want - which ideally would be something like the 68040 user manual (but for the TVP4020, obviously).

Cheers,

@Odin

I contacted both Texas Instruments and 3DLabs. So far TI replied to say that they no longer support the TVP4020. And that's about it...

@Ami603

Thanks. I actually found lots of linux kernel source for Permedia 2 frame buffers and the like, but they only give some clue to basic 2D initialisation and palette support. Unfortunately I need more detailed information, specifically detailing the 3D pipeline, texturemapping unit, blitter etc..

Maybe 3DLabs support will come up trumps but I'm not holding my breath...

Some good news for a change...3D labs sent the NDA info today :-)

But, as it happens, I may not need it after all :-)

3Dlabs makes the top-end 3D cards in existance ATM, so they're quite alive.  They also are very forthcoming in giving out technical documentation on their cards.

Aye. Give me a fully loaded Wildcat VP over Radeon/GeForce any day :-D
