Partially, at least. Most game to movie adaptations I've seen generally end up pretty lacklustre.
Games and movies are very different formats, for all the realism that games are developing. What works for one doesn't necessarily work for another.
In Doom's case, whichever way you want to cut it, the game is fundemantally an FPS and action centric. The storyline behind the game (well most games) is just a vehicle to give the game a setting in which the gameplay makes sense. It engages you because you are interacting with it.
Looking over someone elses shoulder as they play it, it looses appeal almost instantly. And that is exactly what this movie is like.
