I knew someone like that. He also used to use the expression "I think you'll find that..." with a monotonous degree of regularity.
It was all made worse by the fact he had he spoke in the most indescribably boring monotone.
Immediate thoughts on sight were always something akin to "I'm invisible. I'm invisible. Don't look like you noticed him Ah crap he's seen me. Oh please God no, don't let him want to talk to me!"
