Yep, that's perfectly possible. You can either buy a converter (such as
this
or
this
one) or you can
hack
your own old USB gamepad (which seems alot more fun and cheaper than the purpose built converters).

However the Catweasel is apparently severely lacking in software support. I remember reading something that almost nothing worked under Win NT deratives (perhaps I'm wrong, actually I hope I'm wrong).

No idea, I found that page after some quick googling. Perhaps there are better DIY-project available, you might find better hacks if you google a bit.
