I run
Ubuntu Netbook Edition on an Acer A110 netbook (Intel Atom 1.6Ghz, 1.5Gb RAM 8GB SSD) and WinUAE under Wine and it manages fairly well (better than the native Linux UAE versions!). The effective speed of the
Intel Atom is around an 800Mhz Intel Celeron-M.
Puppy Linux imho is too rough to be of any real use. A cut down Ubuntu distribution would be the best way to go if you don't use Ubuntu Netbook - maybe
Xubuntu?
