Hisoft pro midi interface
« on: April 02, 2013, 07:42:03 AM »
Hi is it possible that some keyboards ,namely the EDIROL Keyboard controller will not work on some midi interfaces ,i have the Hisoft pro midi interface connected to the serial port on my 1200 Amiga and the midi cables connected to the in and out of the Edirol and the Hisoft and the midi channel set to 1 ,and still no controll or any evidence to say they are indeed connected ,there is a disc that came with the Hisoft midi interface to input into the amiga and this allows a on screen midi keyboard to be used ,but again nothing at all ,is this destined to never work i wonder.

The Edirol keyboards by default are set to work in a "High Speed" midi mode, you need to set them to the normal mode before they will work with very old equipment.

Let me check my manuals and get back to you.

Hi thanks so very much you are quite right a little too quick for my Amiga 1200`i will read the Edirol manual latter but would prefer not to mess too much with it mean while back on ebay i have seen a commodore MK-10 and could not resist buying it lol and this is basic lol after all i am only going to input a few notes ,lol heres some pics, best wishes Brian.

I've got one of those for my C64/mssiah setup :)

Lol what you have a commodore MK-10 top of the range keyboard lol or a substandard EDIROL thingy me jig ,if its the commodore MK-10  then is it good and does it work ok and does it nead a Driver?
As for the EDIROL Midi Keyboard controller PCR-M1  well i do know how wonderfully brilliant it is ,but concidering how good it is ,how come its not smart enough to outwit the humble Amiga baby by joining in with her and managing a bit of a jig ,mind you it could be me who is the nitwit and knows not what i am doing, best wishes Brian.:laugh1::laugh1:

Just checked, and Edirol call this setting "Fast Processing Technology". Your manual should help :)

Well what can i say i would never have sorted that out in a million years , looked up  fast     Processing Technology       in the manual like you said ,and all i had to do was to go in Edit then system and press the Enter button and the option ,on or off came up ,so clicked on off and one more point i should mention i was foolishl enought to power the Edirol from my pc
usb and took the midi cables to my Amiga ,well you can imagine what was happening the signal was going to the pc  ,so powered up from some batteries untill i can get hold of a powerpack and wo the Edirol  burst in to life ,the Amiga,s singing and a dancing to a merry tune ,truly grateful to you my friend ,best wishes Brian.:laugh1::laugh1::laugh1::laugh1::laugh1::laugh1::laugh1:

Fantastic that you got it working. Music used to be a very big part of my life, until I got old :) The elder Aorg members will remember all about that though ;) ;)

My past life:

http://youtu.be/fXxmmakxJNQ

For info I was using an Edirol PCR-M50, an Evolution MK-461, a Roland SH-201 , a MacBook Pro (running Ableton live 7, plus a bunch of Arturia soft synths) and all synth audio (plus a few vocal and percussion effects) was routed through an Edirol FA-101 for this gig. I manage to get the latency down to about 11ms (round trip), which was just low enough for it to be unnoticeable ;)

-Edit- I just remembered that I also use a small mixing console so I could adjust the mix a little better (also used it for some delay and reverb effects, as the venue had a very dry sound), but I forget which one i used, probably no more than 12 channels.

Awesome to say the least and totaly amazed to be rubbing shoulders with Talent ,your videos are brilliant i cant beleave you have any interest in the Humble  Amiga ,but i do thank you for sharing a part of your life really interesting and i do like it when folk give a run down of the Gear they used and how they used it ,really made my night my friend very best wishes Brian.
