A cat WILL wake you when the house's on fire. They sneak to you and wake you whith their cold nose touching your nose

And yes, a cat will leave a dead mouse in your slippers.
At least they hunt for mice. And they'll eat it with bones and hair when you don't give the cat too much food. True, I've seen it.
