Have you guys cancelled your Friday's these days, as no one seems to post on them lately...
I'm helping out at an activity day for autistic kids tomorrow. Should be fun
It was awesome! I narrowly escaped being consigned to the messy play area (shaving foam and cornflower in water - I can't bear those textures!)
I spent most of the day helping a load of the kids build a tower of blocks bigger than a guy in a Bob the Builder costume. Construction activities with children normally frustrate me because they don't do it right, but these kids built their tower in a nice regular pattern with matched colours
Oops, no I meant cornflour.
I can't bear to touch it in it's liquid form.
There always seem to be messy play areas available, but my experience so far has been that most autistic kids (and adults) don't like messy play due to sensory aversions. Those people who seek those particular sensations would no doubt enjoy it, but fortunately for me I haven't encountered any yet so I haven't had to join them
Or my own autistic tendencies perhaps
