In Vietnam a lot of different drugs were tried on the troops (you don't think soldiers were buying all their marijuana and heroin from the Vietnamese, do you?). Well, if I know it correctly, the English used coke in WW1 to "encourage" their troops.
As well the Zulu's used some kind of drugs to go berserk on the battle field.
Also, the Vikings used some kind of drugs (mixed in mead) for the use on the battlefield.
